I should have been asleep an hour and a half ago but then I went crazy and need your help.

There is this one xkcd comic I want a print of but it's not for sale on the site. This is for a gift so I need it to come out nice. How can I print the web image as nicely as possible? Is my printer my only option? If I take the image file to. Office depot can they make something nicer? Any knowledge you have about this would be amazing. Thanks!

Trying to sleep now...

it depends on how large you want the print to be. office depot/kinkos/etc could print it on better-quality paper with photo-quality inks, but it would only be worth it to print the comic out as large as the original file allows. otherwise it'll be pixellated and fuzzy. :(

BUT sometimes they won't print a copyrighted image. i'm not sure if xkcd counts since it's not a ~big name~ or anything, but i don't know what their exact policies are on something like that. it's worth a try, though!

Yeah, I knew I couldn't make it bigger, and I'm okay with that. I just want the print quality to be nice. Thanks.

It's worth a shot. xkcd is apparently under a creative commons license which seems to allow stuff like this.

Thanks again!

Regarding the pixelation, considering it's straight up black/white stick figures, you can probably get a decent preview on your computer to see at what point it gets pixelated, which should be more forgiving I think.

Also, check out your printer's manual if you don't mind using your printer. If it claims to do photos too, you can set it on photo quality and probably get away with some crazy nice paper.

That's what I'm hoping.

My printer does do photos-- I just don't know if it would be better to get some crazy nice paper or just ask the store to do it, since I only need one copy.
